In 2023, FIVE participated in a Cornell University (CHSB) hotel carbon footprint benchmarking, receiving official reports of operating within the top decile of its peer set and producing carbon footprints 5x lower than the average UAE Luxury resort. These metrics validate the impact of FIVE’s Sustainable Indulgence strategy harnessing operational best practice and technology. Pushing forward on the Road to Zero, FIVE has signed the UAE Responsible Companies pledge and committed to setting near-term science-based emission reduction targets (SBTi) in line with a 1.5-degree scenario by 2025. As of 2022, FIVE has proudly reduced its carbon use intensity (MtCO2e/AED mn) by 76.2%, Electricity Consumed Per Capita (KWh/Cover) by 35.3%, and Water Consumed Per Capita (Litre/Cover) by 36.2%, from its 2020 baseline.

HIGHEST ESG RATING IN THE WORLD

In 2023, FIVE earned the highest corporate ESG Rating in the world recognized by International Shareholder Services (ISS), securing the only ‘A’ rating across industries. FIVE’s ‘A’ Rating forms the company’s ESG blueprint providing best-practice guidance across every element of the hospitality and development business. FIVE’s corporate rating success activated FIVE’s Green Finance profile, driving the group to develop a Green Finance Framework and issue a $350mn Green Bond on Nasdaq Dubai and ISM (London). The group operates in line with 6 ISO systems (9001, 14001, 22000, 27001, 450001, 50001), became the first hotel group in the world to receive United Laboratories (UL)’s 3 Star SPIRE Smart Building Rating, and maintains the highest green building ratings through the Dubai Land Department.
